The fede ring traditionally has the motif of two right hands clasped together in the universal sign of friendship. Originally a design of Roman times, the word ‘fede’ comes from the Italian ‘mani in fede’ meaning ‘hands in faith’. The Fede ring was popular through the ages and during the Renaissance it was given as a symbol of betrothal and love and has continued to be worn in different forms to this day.
