Commemorate that special day with a custom hand woven atarah band for the bar/bat mitzvah celebrant. This band was a commission with the boy's Hebrew name (Michael) and the Hebrew year 5774. Designed to coordinate with my handwoven or hand dyed tallitot, they can also be sewn onto the fabric of your choice.
The bands can be handwoven in tencel, bamboo rayon, cotton or a combination of these three fibers.
Average size is approximately 2” wide x 20-24” long.
Price is $180.00 for one of my standard designs.
Additional charges may apply for unique custom orders.

Custom orders are welcome. I can vary the text, end designs or colors.
Choose your text, possibilities include:
Hebrew name and date (similar to photos)
Takhat kanfai haShekhinah - Under the wings of Shekhinah
v’tzivanu l’hita-tef ba-tzitzit - wrapping ourselves in tzitzit (end of blessing for donning tallit)
Also possible a short Hebrew phrase or blessing that you send me.
Choose a design for the ends and/or center of the band, possibilities so far include:
Wing design, Menorah, Six pointed star.
Choose your colors:
You will need two contrasting colors, one light (white or very pale color) and one dark. Multiple colors are possible as long as they form two groups, one light and one dark. I can coordinate the colors to the fabric you have chosen if you are not buying one of my tallit.
Custom order step by step:
1) Send me a ‘convo’ to start the design process.
2) Once we have agreed on the design: text, end designs, colors, and fibers; you can either purchase this listing to pay in full, or I can create a reserved listing for half of the price.
3) Once this payment is received, I will begin work on your atarah band.
4) You will be notified when your order is completed. If necessary, a reserved listing will be posted for you to pay the balance due. Your band will be shipped after final payment is received.
Please allow 3-4 weeks for delivery after confirmation and approval of design.
See policy page for full details.
This listing is for the neck band ONLY, it does not include a tallit.

My Story:
Inspired by weaving the bima cloth for the Women’s Torah Project, I am now weaving tallitot. This brings together my two biggest passions--anything fiber related and spirituality. My way of pursuing tikkun olam is to make beautiful objects for people that support their spiritual practice. I weave each tallit with the intention that it is for somebody. I think about each potential buyer and ask what they would want and let that help guide my decisions. I belong to a Reconstructionist Jewish Community, and I do not work on Jewish ritual objects on Shabbat.
