Understanding Preschool Art is a handbook showing all of the major levels of art progress with easy-to-follow descriptions and examples. I've written it for teachers, parents, and grandparents who want to encourage self-confidence and self-esteem in preschoolers. In addition, I have made suggestions for positive responses to the children's art.
I have created this book based on my forty years' experience teaching children, composing all the material and photographing preschoolers and their artwork.
Art is a simple way for the child to wordlessly express feelings. It is the visual key to emotional growth. Children should be encouraged to draw, paint, build, and experiment with all sorts of media. Their imaginations will really blossom if you provide and open, safe environment for them.
Remember that it is the PROCESS, not the PRODUCT, that counts. Promote the experience and leave the outcome for later.

The mat and frame sizes are listed with each description. An 11" x 14"
(28 x 35.5 cm.) mat fits in a 12" x 15" (30.5 x 38 cm.) frame (outside dimensions). An 8" x 10" (20 x 28 cm.) fits in a 9" x 11" (23 x 25.5 frame (outside dimensions). Frame openings are identical to mat outside dimensions. Hinged frames are available with a saying on one side and space for a photo on the other. Both are 5" x 7" openings.
