This ring features a genuine earth-mined white sapphire set in an Art Deco revival style sterling band.
The sapphire was mined in Tanzania. It measures 4mm diameter, weighs 0.30 carats and is 100% natural aside from having been heat treated to purify it's colour and clarity. Both of these are near perfect, offering the purest of white hues, eye clean internal clarity, and a delightful luster that plays out in a cascade of soft silver sparks. A lovely little sapphire! The external finish is near flawless too having been 'diamond cut' in a computer controlled machine to assure flawless faceting and a clean unblemished surfaces.
The band is a cast sterling silver design. It features a pair of stylised hands that emerge from the band to wrap around the gem. Finished, the ring measures 6.5mm around the setting, tapering to 2mm (wide) x 1.0mm (thick) at the base, and weighs 1.7 grams. As with all Salon Petite rings, both the prong tips and band edges have been micro-polished to limit the chances of the metalwork catching in hair or on clothing, and to assure the ring slips easily on and off the finger.
Presentation for the ring includes a hinge-lid gift box lined with Japanese Unryu papers. Unryu is a handmade designer paper that contains strands of plant fiber for colour and contrast - very pretty. Dressing up my jewellery for display and gift-giving is one of my favourite parts of the Etsy process.
