Several years ago we worked with a California designer who sold us their test pieces and other related jewelry items. This particular designer had originally worked in the East and particularly in the NY scene.
This designer had worked with some and was one of the most amazing jewelry pioneers of the 1970s and 1980s. This bracelet is a “TEST” piece from 1980s. It is UNMARKED and so therefore, cannot be stated as sterling silver. Most likely this is a Rhodium and Silver mix.
In the USA, The National Gold and Silver Marketing Act does not require precious metals to be marked with quality. However, if a quality mark is used, the mark must be accompanied by a manufacturer's hallmark that is a registered trademark or the name of the manufacturer.
This is a hand-made bracelet by the designer. Simply brilliant. Finished versions of this bracelet were in the market in the 1980s in sterling silver and sold for several hundreds of dollars each. The final design chosen had no hinge and was fully enclosed with no open interior as present in this test piece. No hallmark or metal quality was affixed to this test piece.
Modern versions of this design still made by the original designer have the open interior and hinge and so this piece actually looks closer to their modern version than the 1986 version here.
Due to several trademark and copyright issues, we are NOT legally allowed to mention the designer. We cannot confirm those who play an asking game. This item was acquired legally and we recommend that you purchase this item for its costume jewelry appeal and not for any other reason.
This is an original unreleased design that was never sold on the market and therefore is not considered a reproduction and is NOT considered a knock-off. If this is confusing, then maybe not the best item to buy.
OR, you could buy it and wear it and enjoy it!
We cannot use the designer name or the company this was made for in our tags or in our ads or the present day company will send us a cease and desist letter and our ad will be taken down by etsy. This item is legal and allowed to be owned, traded, sold and enjoyed with no mentioning of the brand or trademarked information.
Measurements: 2 3/16ths inch across in the interior; 1/2 inch across the band

Other related jewelry pieces similar to this have resold at auctions in Europe and the Americas but those sales were not associated with us in any way and we did not provide the name of the designer at any moment in time. Questions concerning this pending case should be directed to our attorney. Subsequent guessing whether accurate or not was not influenced by our comments in an intentional manner.
