Hing, or asafoetida, is a resin that comes from a giant fennel plant. Its slightly sulfurous aroma mellows into a gentle onion/garlic flavor when it's cooked. When you cook with it or bake it in bread, it imparts a gentle garlicky aroma and flavor. In other words, despite what you might think when you first smell it, it's delicious.

If you know someone who's allergic to garlic or onions, this is a wonderful alternative. It's simple to use, it works in the FODMAP diet, and it's darn yummy.

We provide pure wild-crafted hing with a little bit of acacia gum in it.
It does not contain any flour, which most hing sold in the States does.

**PLEASE NOTE: Hing, like other plants, varies in color and aroma from harvest to harvest. Some batches are paler, some a little darker. Your hing may differ in color from what's pictured here, but should pack that familiar hing flavor punch. Please let us know if it does not.
