Averill was originally designed in 2004, and has been published as a traditional paper pattern. Now available as an E-PATTERN. Averill can be made from good quality woven fabrics or a knit like craft velour or doesuede, and is a great way to show off coordinated quilting fabrics. She stands about 18-19 inches tall. Her face utilizes a modified trapunto technique, and is lightly needle sculpted. Her facial features are painted in acrylics and shaded with colored pencils and powder blush. Her hair is knitted eyelash yarn, or other fibers like fringed upholstery trim. Her fingers are wired with chenille stems and may be posed. She has buried bead joints in the elbows, wrists, knee, and ankles. Her shoulders and hips are button jointed. Her clothing is not removable. She is intended for display or very gentle play. She does not stand alone, but uses a doll stand or can be seated. One of the photos features the Averill cloth doll paired with one with a clay face. This pattern is for the cloth faced doll. The clay face is made with a pressmold, available on my website. Anyone with intermediate sewing/doll making skills should be able to make this doll.
"Averill" is published in pdf format, with detailed instructions and lots of illustrations and color photos.
