FIRING:
In the alchemical dance of clay and fire, the firing process emerges as a transformative catalyst. From its humble, pliable origins, clay metamorphoses into ceramics—resilient, sturdy, akin to stone. A testament to longevity, pottery pieces endure for thousands of years, owed to the symbiosis of clay and fire.
Firing is the crucible where clay and glazes ascend to formidable temperatures, orchestrating a molecular ballet that renders them "mature." The first act, bisque firing, imparts the necessary resilience for subsequent glazing without compromising adherence.
As glazes gracefully coat the bisqueware and dry, the delicate loading dance begins for the glaze firing. Pots, like celestial bodies, cannot touch; the kiln's heat would meld them together, an irreversible fusion.
The kiln, a maestro of temperature, orchestrates the grand crescendo, gradually reaching the zenith of maturity before a slow descent. Only after this cooling cadence does the kiln unveil its treasures, a testament to the intricate ballet between clay, glazes, and fire. Explore our shop for the entire symphony of ceramics making.
