A pattern for an adorable Waldorf Style Comfort doll, also called Lovey, which is suitable from birth onwards.

I designed it especially for smaller hands and it is easy to hold and hug. It's the perfect size for newborns and babies, though older children will love it too!
You can even insert a rattle into the head if desired.

The shape of the doll is based on a five petal flower, so I also call them Flower Friends or Petal Pals.
You can use any type fingering weight yarn, plain, patterned or self striping.

Cotton or bamboo yarn is the best choice for young babies.
Play with different colours for the face and or body and limbs, the possibilities are endless.
I kept the face blank, which will foster the imagination of young children.

Size: About 30 cm or 12 inches, but you can make it bigger or smaller by using thicker or thinner yarn and needles.
Knit in the round on 3 mm and 2.25 mm US 1 and US 2 needles.
You will need about 40 g of yarn in total for the main colour and a remnant for the face and hands/feet, as well as a small amount of toy filler.

Knots on the hands, feet and on the hat become perfect teething spots for babies and can be tied to pacifiers or other toys/teething rings.
