Compassion is the concept that brings a lot of folks over to understanding what the whole 'vegan' thing is about. I mean, if you even like petting dogs, then you get the idea to some degree.

Perhaps you don't know, but there are still many, many fur farms that capture, breed, and kill mink and foxes all over the world. There is likely one within like 200 miles of where you live right now. Here in Portland, there's one only 21 miles away. And they're awful places - they kill animals just for money. Sometimes compassionate decisions take the form of holding a sign, writing an angry letter to someone, or maybe just making conversation with someone. Or, maybe, it takes the form of cutting a hole in a fence so animals that were once stuck inside are now free.

Compassion comes in many forms.
