'Istanbul Eminönü Street Seller'

Signed limited edition giclee print by artist & printmaker Clare Caulfield

This is a giclee print taken from the original painting of a Simit seller (a typical street food in Turkey) set against the back drop of the Galata Bridge. I painted it using mixed media - watercolour, pencil and paper collage

• It is signed and titled "Istanbul Eminönü Street Seller" in pencil on the front

• Archival quality giclee print on Somerset Enhanced Velvet 255gsm paper using lightfast pigmented inks. Somerset Enhanced is a beautiful digital art paper that looks and feels like watercolour paper

• Signed, titled and editioned along the bottom edge beneath the image - Randomly numbered out of an edition size of 195 copies

• Image size 30 x 37.7 cm (11.8 x 14.8 inches)

• The paper size is a little larger as it includes a small white border around image for my signature and title / edition number

My work documents my travels to some of the world’s greatest cities, I completely fell in love with Istanbul and hope to return to the citis again some day. I loved sketching this scene of a local street seller with his portable roasting cart selling roasted chestnuts known as Kestane. He was also selling simit, a savoury sesame bread ring and one of Turkey’s best known street foods.

I used to live in Istanbul and one of the things I miss most about it is the smell of simit and kestane on the street and I absolutely love this piece! I had been eyeing it for well over a year and I'm so happy I finally pulled the trigger and purchased it!
