I designed and carved the original pendant and then cast them in lead-free pewter. The pendant comes on a metal chain with a lobster clasp. Each comes in a jewelry pouch with a history card stating:

The usual patron of dancers is St. Vitus, but he didn’t dance. St. Teresa, however, did: there are stories of her dancing on feast days while playing the castanets and of her playing a tambourine so her Carmelite sisters could dance. She did this because, like Francis and other saints, she knew that religion without joy is false religion. Dancing was a symbol of blessing. Teresa, a Doctor of the Church, was one of the greatest writers in history on the subject of mystical prayer. She understood the subject deeply because she, through years of contemplation, had experienced union with the divine. Thus she danced. This medal of Teresa dancing was handmade at In the Co. of Saints.

The necklace is beautiful. The thoughtfulness that went into the necklace is profound and touching. My ballerina daughter will be thrilled with this gift on Christmas. She will be happy to relate to a patron saint that speaks to her heart perhaps more than St. Vitus. I am impressed how quickly the necklace arrived. I am delighted. I had planned to wear the item occasionally as a necklace, but I love it so much that I have attached or to a bracelet I wear daily. The photo throws the proportions off - my wrist is tiny and the piece proportions discreetly with the bracelet. I will be back soon!
