HOW IT'S MADE:
All of the items in this shop are made one at a time on a small scale. You are truly purchasing a handmade item, designed and hand crafted by this mother/daughter team.
Unlike most rag quilts for sale on Etsy, our quilt edges are bound -- we like the raggy look of rag quilts, but prefer the edges to be enclosed in a binding to make the quilt stronger and hold together longer. All seams have been cut and frayed, washed and dried to give it a nice soft, cozy feel.

CARE:
Machine wash and dry. The more you wash and dry these quilts, the softer and cozier they become!

My daughter and I are thrift store junkies!! We have a love for soft, comfy textiles that you can only find in well-loved, worn garments. We are always on the look-out for quality flannel and cotton fabrics and high quality cotton blankets to repurpose into warm and cozy quilts.
Occasionally we find a few delicious cotton fabrics -- new on the bolt -- that we simply can't pass up, but generally, we prefer to save beautiful, well-loved garments from becoming part of our local landfill.
Making homemade quilts from pieces of used clothing originated when people left their homes and families behind to settle the western frontier. These pioneer women did not have new fabric available to them so they repurposed their old clothing into warm quilts -- nothing could be wasted. My daughter and I feel strongly about saving these garments from the landfill -- just because a flannel shirt has a small hole it is still worthy of becoming part of a beautiful quilt to keep someone warm on a cold winter night!!

We also repurpose sweaters, corduroy pants, etc. into doll clothes for the American Girl and similar 18" dolls in our shop: DollUpMyDoll -- please take a look
