Hand painted metal geckos wall hanging were hand cut from a 55 gallon recycled steel drum, in Haiti, using a hammer and chisel. The various details of the gecko were pounded out into a bas-relief, so that the details are more visible. A rust preventative solution is applied to the steel. The gecko is then hand painted in rich colors. It is finished with clear varnish. Similar to the painting of the Mexican talavera pottery pieces. A wonderful garden art design.
You can see some of the photos to see the process of cleaning the recycled steel drum of the paint and whatever was stored inside of it, the flattening of the metal drum, cutting of the drum and the painting of the gecko piece.
