Backyard Besties are a pair of critters common to backyards all around the world. A scruffy bunny and a stout, bold guinea pig...around here guinea pigs are known as 'pinny pigs'.
I've designed these patterns to be a gentle step into toy making for those who have never dabbled. For those who have dipped their toes in the water of toy making they should prove to be 'go to' patterns to add to your children's collection of homemade treasures or even to become unique gifts to friends. I never make just one 'pinny' at a time.
The shapes, fitting of ears, limbs and materials used are all easy to understand and satisfying to master. Some of the techniques are drawn from toy makers skills of days gone by. I hope that when you finish your first pinny pig you turn straight around and make more!
Both toys are easy to grab and fit nicely in a small hand. They're easy to stow in a bag if you're out and about and are animals that children are familiar with. You could easily sew one up in an afternoon. Perhaps if there's no room for such outdoor pets in your home they'll form a happy and welcome substitute?
These patterns use safety eyes, however, full supervision should always be given to small children to whom small parts may pose a choking hazzard.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my little furry, felty pets. I hope you enjoy sewing them together as much as I did dreaming them up.
I go to every length to provide detailed and easily understood written instructions. Chalky and Cotton are best suited to a maker who has attempted one or two toys before...however, if you're new to toy making or find any bumps in the road while you're making your play set fella please don't hesitate to contact me (jenny@frazzydazzles.com) and I'll provide you with any help, tips or support you need to finish your happy campers!
Please note that as I'm an Australian designer. All measurements will be given using the metric system. Instructions and pattern sheets will print to Australian standard A4 sized paper.
