This is a step-by-step tutorial pattern for hand crocheted ruffled ripple edge flower, which can be used as:
1) a ponytail holder band – an excellent hair accessory, perfect for holidays, birthday parties or everyday use;
2) a brooch – this flower brooch looks smart on a coat, jacket, dress, sweater, shawl, scarf, cardigan, hat, headband, handbag, slippers etc.
3) a decoration (for cushions, curtains etc.).

The pattern can be made up with any yarn. The instructions have been tested on several types of yarn and thread. If you use different yarn brand or type, use an average hook size between the smallest and largest on the yarn label. Variations and experimentations are unlimited!

The pattern includes detailed photos with instructions how to make it -- useful for beginners.
This pattern uses only basic stitches, so beginners should have no problem with it. It is written in English using Standard US crochet terminology (with UK crochet terminology if necessary).
The pattern also includes: how to crochet a single coloured or multi-coloured flower, how to crochet the back, how to attach a brooch pin or hair band, how to attach the back to the crocheted flower.
Skill level: easy (you only need basic crochet skills).

Materials you will need:
1) crochet yarn (I used Premium Acrylic DK yarn);
2) crochet hook (I used hook size H8/5mm);
3) thick hair band (I used a non-metal large elastic hair band) or brooch pin size between 30-50mm (1-2 inch) with 2 or more holes;
4) tapestry needle.

The approximate diameter of the crocheted flower is about 10-11 cm (about 4 inch). The size of flower may vary depending on the type of yarn, hook size and how tightly you crochet.
