These SuperFine combs are the mini size (4″ comb head, 3″ tine area), but with three rows of tines, making them well-suited to combing very short and very fine fibers.

The 74 polished, hardened steel tines are 1/16″ diameter, 3″ long, and set 1/8″ on center. The tines are set in poly-resin, which is then bolted to the maple wood frame. This is done so fluctuations due to the wood breathing will not affect the bond between the poly-resin and the wood – with the bolt system, the tine head will always be securely attached, with no wobbling or slipping.

The tines have a very slight curve near the tip, which helps them pass by each other without interference.

Handle is a comfortable one inch diameter.

Total weight for the pair is a little under 17 ounces.

Made of silky-smooth unfinished hardwood.

I spin a lot of suri alpaca, and my larger Valkryes weren’t cutting it. A first pass with these super fines remove all vm and produce nice combed top. (I think they’d work well for low micron merino and extra fine cormo, although I haven’t tried.) The combs are pricey, but they’re incredibly well made. The tines are nicely shaped, polished, and densely packed, (which is why the tines aren’t mounted directly into wood). Saving up took awhile; however, these combs will last a lifetime. They also feel good and are less heavy. And shipping was fast! With Valkyrie, my larger combs took a month to arrive. With this seller, my combs arrived within a week. Also, this seller’s price is identical to Valkyrie’s website with better service. The seller packaged them securely to avoid any damage. A 11/10 star experience.
