Prickly petals of the flower are simply a precursor to the stunning purple pompom flower that is to come of the thistle. The structure of this flower I find intriguing and I thoroughly enjoy photographing it and in this case the friendly little bee was just the icing on this beautiful cake. He was so busy moving back and forth collecting pollen that was hard to catch him just where I wanted him. He was a man on a mission!
