The decorative, hand painted art gecko is created in Haiti, from a flattened, recycled steel oil drum. The photos show some of the unique process. I design the piece and have a group of very talented metal artists and painting artists who help me in creating the finished wall art. This is all done at my home in Port au Prince, Haiti, where I have worked in the design field for over 30 years.
The metal is not flat. All of the details are hand hammered into the design, giving it dimension. The wings are lifted, to give the appearance of a butterfly in flight.
Each metal piece is treated with an anti-rust solution and a base coat of a base paint, prior to the decorative painting. After the painting, it is finished with a high quality clear varnish making it suitable to hang outdoors on your patio. There is a hanger on the back of each piece.
