This custom house portrait is the perfect way to celebrate 'Our First Home'. An illustrated home portrait or building painting can also make a special housewarming gift or really bespoke decor for your home.

You'll be commissioning a beautiful, original, hand drawn illustration of your home (or any other building: wedding venue, holiday house, shed?) drawn in pen and ink, then coloured with watercolour paint. It's an original artwork created by an artist -- no digital prints or adjustments!

DESIGN PROCESS

I will create your custom illustration from your photos, and am happy to add in extra details (a beloved cat, perhaps, or a riot of blooms on a favourite rose) on request. I can also add a hand-lettered caption beneath the image if desired ('The Smiths' or '41 Acacia Avenue' for example).

Please send your photo(s) as soon as possible via Etsy Message after purchasing the listing so we can get started, along with any other requests or preferences for your artwork. If you are also able to provide an address to be identified on google maps, that's often very helpful.

I have two options or styles, DETAILED (Larger) or SKETCH (Smaller). Read on to find out which will work best for you...

DETAILED

- Initial black and white sketch of your artwork for your approval and I will respond (and rework if necessary) following feedback.
- I love adding as much detail as possible to these illustrations, so feel free to inundate me with pictures of all your home's beautiful features.
- Entirely hand-drawn and watercoloured artwork on A4 300gsm heavyweight watercolour paper, measuring 29.7 x 21cm (8.3 x 11.7")
- Scan of finished artwork sent for approval before shipping.

SKETCH

- Quick, sketchy, loose style -- all adding to the lively detail of the artwork
- The artworks are usually square and roughly 15 cm (6") square, on 300gsm heavyweight watercolour paper, although that obviously depends a bit on the dimensions of your building! The maximum size will be A5, or 21 x 14.8cm. (5.8 x 8.3")
- Scan of finished artwork sent for approval before shipping.

FRAMES

Your original illustration can either be unframed and packaged in a cellophane sleeve with one of my lovely stickers, or mounted and framed in a beautiful frame that complements the artwork. I use either white or black wooden frames with off-white mounts as standard, chosen to suit the finished piece, but please state if you have a preference. My frames all come with acrylic glaze - just as clear as glass but much lighter and safer to hang (and post!). If you'd like more details about the frames available, please just ask -- my listing photos show the frames I use.

TIMINGS

I usually complete custom artwork in around two weeks, but please check the estimated delivery date for current turnaround time - it varies depending on how busy I am! If you need your order earlier, or for a particular date, do get in touch and I'll see what I can do.

POSTAGE AND DELIVERY

Your artwork will come beautifully wrapped and then safely packed to survive the post, sent by Royal Mail or Parcelforce depending on the size of the package. First class mail in the UK takes 1-2 working days, and international standard to the US takes 5-12 working days. All orders over £20 are sent by recorded mail. Contact me for alternative or expedited shipping options.

SHIPPING TO THE EU FROM JAN 2021: When a package is delivered internationally, it may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and/or fees imposed (e.g. handling fees) by the destination country. These charges are typically due once the package arrives in the destination country. I'm afraid I can’t predict which of these fees, if any, will be applicable to your order. Please check locally. I'm happy to confirm the packaging size and shipping method before ordering, if required.

Copyrights of all illustrations (including custom orders) are non-transferable with sale. If you're interested in purchasing the copyright for your image, please contact me.

I may use any illustrations, including custom orders, for other future use including, but not limited to, my social media, website and hard copy print. All identifying features (names, addresses etc) will be removed in advance. If you would prefer me not to use your custom illustration for these purposes, please contact me to discuss.

If your custom order requires me to work closely from a photo, please ensure you have copyright (it's your photo) or have requested permission from the copyright owner (for example, your wedding photographer).

Customers are responsible for thoroughly checking their print proof (particularly address details!) and I cannot take responsibility for any errors that were signed off at proof stage. If necessary, I will happily reprint as cost-effectively as possible but customers will need to bear these costs. I take full responsibility for correcting and reprinting if any errors are identified in the final product that WERE NOT present in the proof.

If I have not received the photos for your custom order by the scheduled dispatch date, I will convert your order into a Gift Voucher for redemption for the same product (regardless of price increases) in the future. The turnaround for the creation of your artwork will then depend on my workload at that point. I will always make three attempts to contact you via Etsy Message or the email address on your account prior to converting your order to a Gift Voucher.

The estimated shipping time (1-2 days for UK, 5-12 days for the rest of the world) is provided by the carrier and is usually accurate, but does occasionally take longer. On the rare occasion parcels are severely delayed or lost in transit, I will happily refund or replace once the time-frame has passed for the carrier to consider the item lost. This is usually 30 working days, but may vary. If your order arrives damaged, I will happily refund or replace as long as you contact me as soon as possible and are able provide photos of the damage to the item and/or packaging.
