Hand made batik rayon sarong with impressionistic image of the galaxy. Batik is an ancient fabric art that uses wax as a resist in a dying process. We learned this art form while serving as Peace Corps volunteers in West Africa and have been refining and perfecting our technique for over 20 years. Each shirt is hand painted with wax and dyed twice with fiber reactive dyes The second dye bath is always a darker color than the first to provide contrast. Because each shirt is done by hand each is an individual work of art and no two are ever exactly alike. The finished product is preshrunk and machine washable with other colored clothing.
