Birds Of Wisdom
eco-friendly gift
Set of 5 flags on one string
Each individual flag measures approximately 5.5"x7.5" the entire group of 5 flags measures approximately 30" wide and the entire string length is approximately 90" or 7.5'.

These flags are made with 100% recycled polyester. They are printed with dye sublimation transfers which are fade resistant and durable in the sun. The designs and prayers were created by me, Cada Johnson. The artwork for the owl is from a collection of artwork I've made over the years for t-shirt designs and paintings. The originals are pencil drawings or acrylic paintings. The digital scans of the original artwork were merged with the hand-drawn typography in Photoshop and embellished with digital colors. The prayer borders are all the same graphic but the image has been flipped twice so that the orientation varies on the flags.

The prayers are inspired by a vision that we humans may have qualities that are owl-like so that we may better humans and live in harmony with this earth. Prayer flags are believed to have originated in Nepal and are very common to this day in Nepal and Tibet. There they are strung in high places such as the top of monasteries, stupas and mountain passes so that the wind can pass through them and carry the prayers into the world. As the physical flags fade and decay from exposure to the elements, new strings are added and it is believed that the prayers are integrated into the fabric of the universe through the cycle of decay and renewal.

Here are the prayers:
Grandmother owl
please bestow upon us the blessings of foresight and vision.
May we reside within perfect stillness, aware, precise and clear,
prepared for action. May our vision reach into our darkest hours to guide
us toward clarity and wisdom. May our sense of hearing be sharp and
discerning so that we may listen with impartiality and broad understanding.
May we reside in balance with beauty and fierce grace.
May we dwell in the glory of presence, alert and still.
May we listen to the forest....carefully.
May we listen to the wind...joyfully.
May we be farsighted so that we may see clearly the repercussions
of the choices we make today.
May we listen to the earth...closely.
Grandfather Owl, teach us to be swift and sure and precise.
Show us how to see through deception and illusions
and to see our darkest aspects and how to find
food for growth in them.

Beautiful, unique designs! I would have liked to know that the back of the flags is white but I love them nonetheless.

Love this artist. I'm a repeat buyer. These flags are lovely. Each of the owls are distinct. The colors are vivid and it seems like the material will last a long time outside in the wind. Highly recommend.
