Strength and Resilience Under Pressure: Thanks to its extraordinarily strong, protective shell, the Nautilus has withstood the deep ocean’s extremely high pressures for over 500 millions years. Across cultures and time, this shell has come to represent strength and resilience under even the greatest pressure.

Emotional and Spiritual Growth: As the Nautilus grows, it makes new chambers to inhabit for a perfect fit. At the end of the Nautilus's natural life, its chambered shell remains intact. The 'sacred spiral' chambers of this shell has long been used as a metaphor for emotional and spiritual growth. The way the nautilus moves forward into new chambers as it grows reminds us to keep expanding our mind and spirit, to leave behind outdated beliefs (especially about ourselves) that no longer serve us, and to grow with each life experience.

SUSTAINABLY AND ETHICALLY HARVESTED SHELLS
The hard shell we use in this piece once served as protection for the soft-bodied nautilus. At the end of this mollusk's natural life, its protective shell sinks to the ocean floor and eventually washes ashore. These nautilus shells washed ashore are harvested from a number of beaches in Bali and are the only nautilus shells we use for our jewelry. We will never support the harvesting of live marine animals for our jewelry.
