This piece is HUGE, almost two feet tall! There's also over 60 hours of work put into this extremely unique desk organizer. After I constructed this heavy press board Ferris Wheel, I ran sheet after sheet of silver foil paper through the embossing folder giving each piece an authentic riveted metal look and feel. Black acrylic paint came next to give the metal texture and depth. Then the real work began - cutting and gluing hundreds of pieces of "steel" to the MDF board. And last, a faux aged patina was added giving the metal a well-aged, slightly rusted look. This Ferris wheel looks like it's spent half a century turning out in the rain and sun.

Depending on how much light is on this piece and how much color is around - the look of this piece can really change! I've shown in a number of the photos above one picture with subdued lighting and then the same angle with more color and/or light, it's all the metal reflecting it's surroundings.

Both the inside and outside of the two huge wheels are completely covered with the riveted metal including the outer edges of the wheels. There are ten baskets, meant to hold/store items, anything you can think to put in there. Organize an office desk, tidy up a craft room, make this the most unique jewelry box you have every seen or a truly one of a kind centerpiece in a fantastic table top collage display. Wouldn't this be the most amazing foundation piece for the nursery's décor, and you could store all the baby's bits and bobs in it, as well.

This would also make a stunning display in a commercial setting such as a jewelry store where the baskets could hold a lovely selection of boxed rings, bracelettes, necklaces and more which could be turned to entice the customers as they select their favorite gift.

Each basket is covered all around the outside with the riveted metal and the inside is painted with silver metallic acrylic and then given an aged patina. The large support arms are covered with the embossed metal foil with the edges painted with Midnight Blue acrylic. The base support is also fully covered with metal and the blue acrylic on the edges. Now as I mentioned above, I named this wheel "The Lucky Star" and I scattered a small galaxy across it's surface. There are dark blue riveted metal stars centered on the front of each of the ten baskets. There are three stars on the bottom panel of each side support and in the circular cutout at the top of the side supports, where the wheels attach, there are stars inside and as the wheels are turned the stars turn too - cool!

The hardware for this unit is heavy duty 4" packed bearings on each side so the Ferris wheel turns easily at the slightest touch. The bottom of the base plate is covered in navy blue felt so all surfaces are protected.
