They sneak up on you out of nowhere and scare the bejeezus out of you. No one knows when cucumbers became evil, but the facts are there. Sometime between the dawn of time and the Cats vs videos cucumbers became an evil nemesis of felines around the globe. Most everyone is familiar with catnip. It makes the kitties happy. Valerian root is a kind of catnip alternative. I have the good fortune of having several testers at my disposal. In addition to my own family of cats, I care for a small colony (clowder) of feral cats in my neighborhood. Their response to valerian is joyful. Most of them like it. Several of them looooove it. But be warned, valerian root does have a strong, pungent odor that cats love but some humans may recoil at. It may not be for all cats, but I do suggest trying it, because you never know until you try.
