*Note* 4mm is a relatively small stone, that is comparable to a slightly larger diameter of 3/16" wide to give you a visual image if you are not familiar with measurements in millimeters. They are not large in size, but their fabulous color play with its dramatic array of colors and shades, demands the attention of anyone who sees them.


The excellent play of color in these opals is absolutely incredible. The dramatic and varied flashes of color have to be seen to be believed.


There are multiple shades of blue, green, yellow, and orange that flash from its depths depending on the light source and angle. I uploaded photos that captured some of those colors as they flashed simultaneously.


These are from a recently discovered mine in Welo, Ethiopia and are considered amongst the finest Opals there are.


Ethiopian Opals are still available through first markets, but it is anticipated that Ethiopian mines will be played out' mid 2016, making them all relatively expensive and difficult to come by. Thus, your earrings will only increase in value as time goes on.


Interesting Factoid: The flashes of color come from the play of moisture that is within the stone. The large variety of colors is what makes these such highly desirable Opals and why they are becoming increasingly rare.
