If you're looking to add a conversation piece to your outfit, then this antique Victorian perfume button necklace is it! These buttons date from the 1800s and you can rest assured you'll not find many people wearing anything even remotely similar. You only get one first impression!
The Victorian era was when these perfume buttons were first popularized. The reason was that fragrances were mostly oil-based but this could damage clothing so the solution was cute as a button! The perfume button necklaces have a velvet or fabric base which absorbs and holds perfume releasing the scent slowly throughout the day.
During the Civil War, women would also give these perfume buttons to their husbands before they went off to war. He would stitch it under his uniform collar as a reminder of the love they left behind. So romantic!
I adore anything quirky in history so it tickles me pink to be able to offer these here. Now you too can own something from history. You'll have something very unique with a lovely story to go with it.
This pretty button perfume pendant is mounted on an intricate silver 7/8" frame.
The sterling silver chain is 18" long and closes securely with a lobster style clasp. Silver framed perfume buttons are rare. They're usually antique brass color.
