Jet Black Mourning Style French Dress Clip On Two Tone Metal with Period Flair. Great French Styling -Versatile and Ornate Jewelry Accessory. "AS-IS" This is a very ornate Dress clip with a jet black stone cabochon set into pressed metal and secured with a saw tooth bezel. A spray of golden florals has been secured in the center and the attachment is visible from the back.
This is a fabulous unmarked piece. It has the standard clip which allows it to be clipped wherever you like.
Dress clips are one of the most versatile jewelry/accessory pieces ever made. They were primarily used to widen the neckline opening of any dress, sweater or top to further expose the decollete (upper chest) but they can also be used on belts, jean pockets, hats and even on purses. You are only limited by your imagination
Condition-This clip shows wear on the surface since the Gold Dore Flashing has worn off. It still has a great look. It is also missing some small seed pearl type stones, but these are very easy to come by and repairs would be minimal effort if one wanted to restore.
This is quite an elegant piece of antique "Mourning" Jewelry.
