Flat jaw sized for 3/16" thick material, blacksmith tong, Forge tongs, Blade tongs. They work great to hold you knife blade during forging. The tongs are approximately 16" long overall, The jaws are about 1 1/2" long. These tongs have a grove down the length of the jaw and a grove across the jaw to give more points of contact to grip your stock. This grove will hold 1/4" square stock as an added bonus. These are hand forged as are all of our tongs and small variations will turn up in the length and jaw finish. If you require a certain size for a special need then feel free to request a custom order. This is the same tongs that are included in my starter set. They are finished with beeswax, so they won't mess with your work. Thanks for looking.
For your information the process for adjusting the jaws is to heat the tongs from the tip to behind the rivet boss to an orange color and then you can clamp the jaws around the size material you want them to fit in the vice and move the reigns apart while it is clamped. Harder to describe than to do. when you do this let the tongs cool in the air until you can touch them. They are made of mild steel but a quench from very hot will make them have stress in the tongs. For normal use when they are warm from holding hot material they can be cooled in water no problem.
