The Magical World of Rik Pierce embraces the imaginative 1:12 scale miniature storybook structures created by the artist. Included are 12 commissioned and 22 workshop designs. His work encompasses fanciful castles and towers, storybook cottages, his version of Diagon Alley shops, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, and a Hobbit house. Designs have much in common with rustic English medieval and rural Tudor structures.

Rik believes in the old adage "give them a lot to look at" and incorporates picturesque details and a variety of textures and materials. He combines brick, stone and wood in fanciful ways to provide a whimsical constant in all of his structures. Buildings incorporate steeply pitched roofs, distressed wood beams, wood-pegged or faux stone floors. Chimneys are crooked, windows are leaded and stained glass. Using his own resin castings, structures incorporate architectural detail with medieval mythical beasts and gargoyles.

A popular teacher, Rik has offered several workshops in the U.S. and abroad to share his techniques with students of all skill levels.

I’ve been in awe of this extraordinary book for a long time, having seen it several times at Miniatures Shows. My darling husband surprised me with it as a “this is how much I love you “ 💕 gift. I always treasure the gifts he gives me, but this one took my breath away. It’s better than jewelry!!! Everything about this book is magnificent...the photography, the heavy paper, the information about Rik & his creative works & his teaching careers, but especially being able to see all the glorious pieces by Rik & a few other talented artists.
