This is really gorgeous especially in person. I always have a difficult time photographing black clothing. The sleeves don't show their details too well but they are a puffed sleeve with ruching throughout the length of the sleeve. The front bodice is absolutely the highlight of this bodice. This dates to the late 1890's and is in excellent condition. No tears or rips and the trim is just perfect. It is so detailed with antique soutache trim embroidered with metallic gold threads and adorned with silk handmade ribbonwork.
The combination is simply striking. Please excuse my Frenchie, she loved this piece and leaned over right when I was taking the photo. The inner bodice has the original stays and the original hooks and eyes. This is ideal for display but it could be worn by a small framed person. I have more photos of the inside for serious buyers. Truly a unique example of Victorian High Fashion.
