Sleeveless Crochet Dress Vintage Crocheting Pattern PDF 853 from WonkyZebra
A pattern for a perfect crochet sheath dress from the late sixties, from Pingouin yarns. (In English!) I made this dress exactly as it is here-seduced by actually finding the pingouin wool in a (quite) local woolshop!
It was a very Zen experience; all those rows of repeated shells...but a super texture when made-and of course goods shaping. t would make a lovely top-
(Ha! I really can’t say a shell pattern, shell top-can I?)
It is, however, almost stereotypically French in its elegant, timeless, styling. The neckline is quite high, the armholes high cut, both finished in a corded “crab stitch” edging. The length is a tad longer than mini- but well above the knee… perfection.
It is shown here in in deep cream with even stripes in ivory just adding a little hem detail to the all over shell stitch lace
It is worked top down- so could also be easily (and usefully) adapted for a sleeveless shell top too

All my PDF patterns come with conversions UK/USA, extra freebies and my own extensive yarn notes research. (you can see this in my shop reviews).
I also support the patterns and will answer email queries-no matter how basic. I love to knit & to crochet and I want you to be able to use the patterns; I have even worked samples etc to help.
I use high resolution scans-and where I think it is needed they are reformatted [beyond just “cleaning up”]; I have used my experience of teaching knitting and crochet, so they are easier and clearer to work from. For example instructions are often amended so that all relevant bits are together on one page.
Please note, all WonkyZebra listings are for pattern instructions in English. My words in this description are written in English. If you are reading them in any other language they have been translated by ETSY software and may not accurately say what I intended. Very few of the patterns have charts, most are written instructions in English using English crochet terms.
