The perfect partner for our SmoothSet stone-setting punches!

This is the lightweight (4 oz.) mallet we use for setting gemstones with our setting punches. One face is nylon (helpful for tapping stones into position) and the other is brass – good for light strikes on the the tempered steel punches. This two-in-one mallet keeps both faces always at hand – and you'll discover lots of other uses for it.

Overall length is 8.25"/21cm. The handle is shellacked hardwood.

Face diameter is 5/8"/16mm, and the faces are replaceable – just loosen the collet (the little wrench that's included may help, or use your fingers) and the face pops right out.

Item overall is pretty good, and I can't complain in terms of how the hammer feels in the hand. Very balanced, and I would say easy to use, and the head changing system is a little confusing at first with the hook being to me just kind of odd, but it does indeed work for tightening it down. I would say it's compatible with other heads that fit the nature of this hammer, but what those head types are called, I do not know because it is a screw-on securing mechanism for the hammer heads.
