Highlights
This stunningly-detailed hand-colored etching is from a limited edition of 250 signed prints, dating from 1987. Depicting a crescent moon and the night sky in the top half of the ornate hourglass with a castle on an island surrounded by waves, a ship, and a sea monster in the bottom half. Beautifully matted and framed with a custom shaped triple-mat complementing the shape of the etching. Includes signed COA in pocket behind frame. Measures 14 x 21 inches.
Alice Villanueva Scott, also known professionally as Alice Scott-Morris and Alice V. Scott, is an American artist celebrated for her intricate etchings and whimsical illustrations. From 1971 to 2001, she produced over 220 limited edition etchings in a detailed “Old World” style, drawing inspiration from European travels and her studies in etching and children's literature at UCLA. Her work often features fantastical scenes, alphabet motifs, and charming characters, exemplified by her well-known “Alice’s Alphabet” series.
Today, Scott continues to share her artistic creations through her Etsy shop, AliceandCompanyArt, where she offers prints and designs that reflect her enduring passion for storytelling and visual artistry.
