The sweetest antique boat ring ferrying 5 little mountains of old cut diamonds in its rich gold hold! Boasting a full British Hallmark for 1815 - and in a rarely found larger UK size R (for a ring of this age) - it is an absolute find!

The old-world elegance of old cut diamonds are becoming ever more sought after as their rarity increases, for romantic notions of being skilfully and lovingly hand-cut, for their uniqueness and for their ethical value. (Old cut stones are by far the most sustainable and environmentally friendly choice.)

In contrast to flatter, shallower, modern brilliant cut diamonds, old cut diamonds are chunkier, deeper and rounder, with a small but high table (top facet) a steep crown, a thicker frosted girdle, deeper pavilion and a large open culet, giving them cavernous depth that allows light to dance and glow like reflections on water. Old cut diamonds were individually assessed by diamond cutters and uniquely hand cut to bring out the best colour and brilliance for each stone. The cutters (bruters) followed the octahedral shape of the diamond crystal, laboriously grinding two diamonds together to create the shape, before the diamond polisher set about the facets by hand. No two old cut diamonds and their proportions are ever identical - they are true heritage pieces.

All my rings are photographed in natural light to show the diamonds true natural colour. I use macro photography to ensure you can see the true quality of the stones.
