HTF Rare Emerson & Stevens (E & S) MFG Co. Scythe Brush Weed Blade 17"
This nice heavy duty weed blade is 17.25" with a 14.75" x 2.75" wide in the center. It has a very sharp cutting surface. No problems, chips or repairs. It weighs nearly 29 oz. Marked E & S MFG CO. and “47” on the other which may stand for 1947. This how their axes were marked. It has many years of use left in it for sure. Great for those big weeds and small saplings. New Blades can still be purchased for around $150 but will not hold an edge like these old ones. Located in Oakland, Maine, on Messalonskee Stream the foundry of the Emerson & Stevens Manufacturing Company made axes and scythes. It was founded in 1870 by Luther D. Emerson, Joseph E. Stevens, W.R. Pinkham and George W. Stevens. 1873-1962
