Original and rare Set 12 pieces: 6 large dinner soup spoons, 6 table dinner forks , excellent heavy quality.
They are made in the period between Art Deco and Art Nouveau and have caracteristics from both styles.
Very impressive Danish cutlery or flatware set made by Carl M. Cohr around 1922, magnificent pattern with finials very stylish with a perfect Art Nouveau/Deco design and flower illustration. Large as usual on those times.
From the beginning of the 20th century, Cohr was a competitor of Georg Jensen Co. drawing top design talent and had gained world-wide renown by the 1950s.

In the past we offered flatware for couples but never with knives because Danish people believe if you offer knives the friendship will end.
The set is for:
- 6 Soup spoons, measuring 7.7"/ 20,2 cm long
- 6 Dinner forks measuring 7.8"/ 20,2 cm long

Total weight set: 625 grams

All the pieces are marked to the backs with the Danish makers 3 stars , Carl Cohr and the quality torch mark used between 1922 and 1929.

If you are looking for a piece of conversation for your table, then this is your set!
The plating is shiny and reflecting light in a beautiful way.
Not monogrammed.
Bought myself in Copenhaguen.

CONDITION: Good condition (usual light scratches), beautiful shine. With traces of age and wear from some on the back not visible on use. The set is in overall good, as-pictured used estate condition with very fine and light edge wear, some tiny loss of silver, light surface scratches throughout, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age for a Century old set.

" SILVERPLATE
When Cohr started 1921 his plated product range in flatware and hollowware - didn't exist a nationwide symbol for this. Some time later were used the letter P (in a circle, signification = Plet = Plated) and introduced the "Two towers" mark, to be used by all Danish producers of plated products. That's failed until 1929, because there wasn't any guarantee of similar quality standard.
DS - Danish Standards Association Founded in 1926. Denmark's national standardisation body. DS marking is the visible evidence that a product meets the requirements laid down, for instance, in a standard covering the particular product group. Cohr used DS marking from 1931 on.
Torch mark FDG: In 1929 the "Common Representation of Danish Goldsmiths" (FDG = Fællesrepræsentationen for Danmarks Guldsmede) registered the "Torch mark" as a trademark and wanted it to be used as a quality mark for silver plated sold by the members only.
Torch mark: Quality mark for silver plated. Used by the "Organisation of Silver plate Manufactures" ("Foreningen af Sølvpletfabrikanter") after they took over the rights to the torch mark from FDG about 1932.
A wide array of marks was used on Cohr's silverplate. Three Stars is a symbol used in signification of "Plated" quality - from 1926 on traded as ATLA (signification: strong surface and resist use attacks) Cohr's trademark."
