Here is a stunning antique French curtain panel made of hand woven spindle lace with linen gauze panels. Multiple borders of lace have been carefully handstitched to a fine linen gauze. The top edge has been folded over and stitched to create a rod pocket with a ruffled top. It is imperfect but so precious and a real treasure.

The combination of the gauze panels and intricate spindle lace filter the light so beautifully. This would add immense character to your home decorating a doorway or window.

The lace is incredibly intricate using many different stitches to create three dimensional flowers and leaves. The threads used to weave the lace is pure linen giving it a subtle sheen and a pleasing weight. It is not flimsy or overly soft but has some body and a lovely texture delineating the many intricate stitches. The color is a soft vanilla and is uniform throughout all the elements of the piece.

Condition is good with no stains or discoloration. The lace is in overall good form with a few small loose threads here and there as to be expected. There is one area of larger holes in the top corner where it has been folded over to create the rod pocket. These holes are larger but hardly noticeable at the top of the curtain. There are picks and loose threads within the gauze panels. Nothing serious for such a delicate and old piece and does not detract from it's beauty.

Measures 71" long by 66" wide. It will come to you freshly washed and pressed ready to use.
