This vintage 5x7 kilim is a mid-century tribal rug, handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.

On the Design:

The mid-century kilim is divided into vertically banded segments, each meticulously defined by a sequence of contrasting patterns and hues. The dominant color field is a saturated red, exuding warmth and vitality, while flanking panels introduce a series of bold geometric motifs in navy blue, ivory, and burnt orange. On one side, elongated lozenge-shaped diamonds stack vertically while on the other side, a sequence of repeated hooked or comb-like motifs (a pattern often interpreted as protection symbols) unfolds in rhythmic stripes—creating a sense of movement and energy while maintaining the symmetrical balance of the overall design.
