Unique 1930s/40s Watercolor Femme Fatale Dress

This exquisite Art Deco gown is a rare vintage treasure from the late 1930s to early 1940s. It features a cinched waist, a mermaid-style skirt, and a fitted bodice with a hook-and-eye closure cleverly hidden beneath cascading ruffles. The ruffles continue around the collar and the dress is finished with elegant 3/4 length sleeves. Additional details include a waist tie and an original functioning metal side zipper for secure closure.

The skirt, adorned with a striking rose pattern in rich red and olive green, contrasts beautifully with the hand-dyed watercolor bodice and sleeves in soft shades of blue. Truly a femme fatale silhouette, this piece captures the glamour and sophistication of its era.

This dress is wearable but delicate and would benefit from some mending. It is in fair vintage condition and best suited for careful handling or display. Details include:

• Scattered pinholes, mostly hidden within the pattern
• A 2x4 red interior patch in the skirt covering a grouping of pinholes
• Hand-stitched repairs on the collar and shoulder
• Loose sleeve hems and one shoulder pad partially detached
• Three to four small holes on the back just below the collar
• Some color transfer between the bodice and skirt patterns
