Antique Victorian Solid Gold Natural Ruby Pendant Necklace

This lovely antique Victorian solid gold natural ruby pendant necklace is a rare and unique find. It has six beautiful natural rubies set in classic collet settings. The pendant hangs elegantly on an open-link 9ct gold chain.

Dating to the era of hand-cut gems and handmade jewellery, each of the six ruby gems has a unique subtle variation in color, ranging from delicate pink to rich purple hues, typical for the period when gemstones were celebrated for their unique individual beauty.

• Measures: Approximate pendant length 5.4cm by width 1.3cm by depth 0.3cm. Chain is 24 inches.
• Hallmarked: 9k on the chain. The pendant is not hallmarked but tested as 9ct gold.
• Weight: 2.7gms
• Age: 1837 to 1860 (early to mid-Victorian era)
• Gemstone: 6x natural Rubies, faceted and deep collet setting, and old mine cut. They measure approx. diameter 5mm, 0.54ct per Ruby totalling 3.24cts. Each gem also varies slightly in shape.
They have good clarity and all have inclusions. As per my description for the colours and shapes. Two of the Rubies are oval and four are round. Two are pink and four are purple in tones. The Rubies are natural so vary in colour. Please read my description for a better understanding of the piece.

• Condition: Considering how old the pendant is it is in good antique condition with signs of wear in keeping with its age. There are nibbles to the Rubies and to the setting. Please note: The chain and bail is not from the same age and is a much later addition.

The Ruby is the July birthstone, making this necklace an ideal and unique July birthday gift.
