Highlights
Step into the past with this vintage trunk. In researching, I believe it actually may be a wooden lock box, a true relic of early 20th-century craftsmanship. With its warm, timeworn patina and authentic iron hardware, this primitive storage chest offers a charming blend of utility and rustic appeal.
It features a hinged lid and a solid iron hasp-style latch over an escutcheon plate with a working keyhole (key not included). The inside remains unpainted, showcasing its naturally aged wood grain. The exterior retains its original dark finish, now weathered and softly distressed with signs of old use—adding to its authenticity and character.
These types of boxes were commonly used during the early 1900s as personal storage chests, toolboxes, or document holders in general stores, homes, and tradesmen's workshops. Simple, functional, and durable, they often carried valuables, deeds, letters, or tools.
