Chainmail is great protection against cutting and slashing attacks – cutting through metal is simply not easily accomplished. The value of mail against penetrating attacks can vary, depending both on the quality of the mail and the form of the weapon. Swords in the later Medieval period began to be crafted with increasingly thinner tips and quadrangular cross-section geometry – an ideal form for splitting links or simply stabbing through though round gaps! A tightly woven weave of small links, such as this example, aids in protecting against such a thrusting attack.

This long-sleeve hauberk is constructed from dome riveted flat rings of mild steel; these rings alternate with solid flat rings. This construction technique reduces the amount of riveting needed to create a coat of mail and thus it substantially lowers its cost without sacrificing strength or durability. The rings measure 8 mm in diameter and 18 gauge in thickness.

Handmade from 18 gauge mild steel rings (8 mm diameter each) are meticulously riveted together using dome rivets. The alternating flat rings make it more durable. A classic European pattern of 4-in-1 chainmail rings is followed while constructing this chainmail shirt. It is available in Five sizes: Small (S) medium (M), large (L), extra-large (XL) and, double extra-large (XXL).

The quality of the maille itself isnt astonishing. A lot of rings are poorly joined and needs to be fixed (like 20 or 30, not a few but not too many) and there where some errors in the pattern under and armpit. The worst part Is that i ve given specific measure of my body, but the arms where at least 10 cm longer and extremely wide, and the mitterns also where gigantic. On the thorso Is too wide also ( shoulders and chest are fine, so the sixe of ok), and arrived couple centimeters shorter than i was hoping. Im fixing all of this, but it s a long work. I also asked for some spare rings to do those works, but the only stuff inside the package was the maille. The delivery with Feedex express was excellent, by the way!
