“I really liked this pattern. I had purchased a very similar dress in a store but it was shorter than I would like so I decided to find a pattern to make my own. I chose this one based off the reviews and the videos on YouTube that accompany this pattern. It did not disappoint. The long video on YouTube was super helpful. I watched it quite a few times in the lead up to sewing and then didn’t even need to open my digital instructions as I was sewing. The explanation for machine settings and how to complete the shirring was very helpful. I cute my two lengths of fabric to about 110cm each so I would have plenty of length at the end to decide where to hem it. I also did a bit over 60cm of shirring. Love this dress and can see me getting lots of wear and making more in the future.”

I really liked this pattern. I had purchased a very similar dress in a store but it was shorter than I would like so I decided to find a pattern to make my own. A shirred dress made from woven fabric and common sewing supplies. The shirring creates a fitted but textured effect over the body, highlighting your curves. The shirring acts as gathering for the skirt and is grown onto the rest of the dress pattern, reducing the number of seams.

It features a boat neck as well as being sleeveless.

Sewing level:
Level: Confident beginner - Intermediate
The steps in this tutorial are quite simple, however, it can be quite a lengthy project and requires a good level of accuracy in some parts. It is recommended that you have completed at least 3 clothing projects from scratch prior to attempting.

Time required:
0.5-1 days depending on skill level.
5-8 hours on shirring alone, ~2hrs for cutting and sewing up final dress.
