Antique 1928 Art Deco 18ct White Gold 0.70cts Old Mine Cut Diamond 5 Stone Ring / Size O 1/2 or 7.75

A solid 18ct white gold ring, fully hallmarked for London, 1928, set with five graduating old mine cut diamonds arranged in a softly graduated line across the finger. The hallmarking is exceptionally crisp and clear, a rare detail for a piece of this age, giving immediate assurance of its authenticity and origin. Each stone is held within a smooth bezel setting, allowing the diamonds to sit low and secure while still catching the light across their broad, hand cut facets. The white gold has a cool, clean tone that complements the character of the stones.

The diamonds are spaced to create a natural flow across the band, with the graduating sizes adding structure and movement to the design. Old mine cuts are known for their distinctive faceting, cut to reflect the softer glow of candlelight rather than the sharper brilliance of modern stones, giving a deeper, more dimensional sparkle that feels entirely in keeping with the period. The setting is both practical and elegant, making it easy to wear while still offering full coverage across the finger.

Made in 1928, at the height of the Art Deco period, this ring carries with it a sense of its time, an era of optimism, refinement, and modern design. Diamond content:
These amazing natural antique diamonds are all old mine cuts, with chunky facets and small cut culets. They have been assessed and verified as earth mined.
The center diamond measures 4.1 x 4.1 x 2.5mms (0.26ct), the two middle diamonds are 3.25mm each (0.14cts each), and the two outer diamonds are 2.75mm each (0.08cts each)
Together, the estimated total diamond carat weight is 0.70cts
These diamonds are gorgeous antique examples. They are super sparkly, especially in low light (they were cut at a time where candle light was common). They do have tiny natural inclusions, though the inclusions are primarly white/clear (there is just one tiny black caron inclusion in one of the middle diamonds), so they are not distracting. The colour is very good for all 5, with all of the diamonds showing up as mostly white.

In very good antique condition with minimal signs of light wear and age related tarnish. Really quite exceptionally excelllent condition given it's age. One of the middle sized diamonds has a very tiny chip, visible under 10x magnification. This ring has been professionally cleaned and polished, it's ready to wear, to give as a gift, or to propose with. Please see the photos.

Please be aware that antique diamonds should be judged on a case by case basis as they were made before the time where 'The 4 C's' were used to grade diamonds, which is why we do not apply 'The 4 C's' in our evaluation. All antique diamonds almost always score low on this scale. Antique diamonds were cut by hand, not machines, by historical lapidarists who skillfully worked to make each individual diamonds natural beauty shine through. They were handmade so each is unique and one of a kind, which makes them impossible to grade with modern day chart and formulas.

Some styles (such as full eternity bands) cannot be sized at all, and some rings may only be sized within reason. We are always happy to give honest advice and guidance.

RETURNS POLICY:

• We must be informed of the intent to return within 3 days of the item arriving, the item must be shipped back within 7 days of it arriving
• Returned items must be in original unaltered condition, must have all original packaging, and be sent back with full insurance. If returned with inadequate or missing packaging, additional charges will occur.
• Original shipping costs are non-refundable (postage costs will be deducted from the refund of any free delivery orders)
• For returns outside of the UK, a 10% restocking fee is charged.
• In instances where a client declines to pay an import charge, the restocking fee is 20%
