Highlights
Rare 1940’s Jan Allan Chalkware English Setter Dog Figurine - 5 1/4” Tall - Marked - Very Good Condition
Beautiful piece. Regal pose.
Roughly 2 1/2” wide at back haunches by 7 1/2” tall by 9 3/4” long.
Marked, as shown, on back left leg.
Exact age is unknown but I believe they are from the late 1940’s to late 1950’s.
I was informed by the previous owner, that a few of the chalkware dogs had been repaired. They were all carefully wrapped in a large box so I never had a chance to see them until it was time to list.
If I see anything that may have been repaired, I will post clear photos but I may have missed something.
There might be some color differences from any possible touch up or repainting or possibly very faint hairline cracks.
As shown, the figure is in good to very good condition with overall very light soiling from years of handling. I don’t see any major issues other than a hairline crack on the same leg and spot where the name Jan Allan is. It looks like it was reglued and/or repainted. Still very solid.
