Seller's description

Hermanubis is one of the most fascinating gods of the ancient world: a fusion of Anubis, the jackal-headed Egyptian guardian of the dead, and Hermes, the Greek messenger god. Both were guides of souls, leading the dead safely into the afterlife, so in Roman Egypt the two were joined into a single deity.

This replica is based on a Roman marble statue from the 1st to 2nd century AD, now displayed in the Vatican Museums. He wears a Greek tunic and carries the caduceus, the serpent staff of Hermes, while keeping the jackal head of Anubis.

A unique piece for lovers of Egyptian and Greek mythology, ancient history collectors, and pagan altars.
