ABOUT
Rainbow Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed when lava cools rapidly, trapping microscopic mineral inclusions that create its signature iridescent effect. While obsidian has been used for thousands of years in tools and artifacts, the rainbow variety is a rarer form, prized for its dynamic flashes of color.

Jalisco, Mexico, is one of the most renowned sources of high-quality Rainbow Obsidian. The region’s volcanic activity has created ideal conditions for forming this unique gemstone. The striking multicolored bands seen in Jalisco’s specimens are due to the presence of nanominerals like magnetite, which align in layers within the obsidian, producing its stunning optical phenomenon. Obsidian from this locality is particularly sought after for its deep, rich coloration and exceptional polish.

Perfect for display, study, or as a one-of-a-kind gift, this Rainbow Obsidian Freeform is a true geological treasure from the heart of Mexico!
