Ashwagandha is a member of the nightshade family, which also includes tomatoes—but, unlike the tomato, the tiny, orange-red fruits of this herb are not the focus of its beneficial properties. The mature plant’s thick, gray taproot, which reaches 1 to 2 feet into the soil, contains medicinal compounds. One of the English common names for this species, Indian ginseng, refers to its popular medicinal uses. Botanically, ginseng and ashwagandha are in different plant families, but they are similar in having medicinally active taproots with the ability, when ingested, to fight stress. This plant is easy to grow in South Florida because of its plant family (solinacea plants love the heat and humidity we have to offer year round) just keep in mind that once planted it has to stick around in your garden until it dies in late spring, so make sure you make the room in your garden for this plant to be able to mature and spread, about 2 square feet in total.

All of our plants are grown with OMRI certified ingredients (potting mix, fertilizer, etc.) and shipped in compostable/ plantable cow pots. We only ship mature and fully rooted plants to ensure they are healthy and mature enough to survive the trip to your garden from their home in Miami, Florida. We are a specialty culinary & useful plant nursery located in the Redland historic agricultural district of Miami and have been serving South Florida for 10 years. We ship plants every Monday from our nursery in South Florida so that they don’t spend any extra days in the mail. Cut off for ordering for Monday shipping is Sunday at midnight. If you need your order expedited faster call or email us and if it’s possible we will get it out sooner. We will send tracking info as soon as your order is shipped.

Its normal for plants to loose some leaves or experience some discoloration while in transit because of the lack of light, so some damage of that type is to be expected and shouldn't effect the long term health of your plant. We also prune the tops off of some of our taller plants to make them fit more economically in a box, which is not only totally fine for your plant but for many of them it will actually benefit their growth since it will promote bushier growing patterns, especially with roselle, cranberry hibiscus & mulberry. 

If your plants show up in very poor condition due to getting loose in the box or having their box crushed in the mail please document the damage and email us within 48 hours and we will either refund you or ship replacements. We do our best to package our plants securely in the smallest box possible (to save you money on shipping) and so damage does occur sometimes. Our plants are inspected before shipment for pests and any damage that might effect their growth, so we stand behind their quality when packed, and are only offering refunds & replacement for damage incurred during shipment.
