Process of Making Marble Inlay

Our marble inlay artwork is crafted through a centuries-old traditional process performed by highly skilled artisans of Agra, India. The base marble — White, Black and Green — is sourced from the historic quarries of Makrana in Rajasthan. Each piece of marble is carefully cut into classic shapes such as round, octagonal, rectangle, oval or square. The surface is then coated with hina (red color) to sketch the design layout with perfect geometry.

Semi-precious stones are selected and hand-cut individually using emery wheels to form delicate petals, buds, leaves and stems. Once a floral motif is complete, the stones are placed on the marble to trace the exact outlines, followed by manual chiseling with diamond and tungsten carbide tools to create precise cavities. When the stones fit perfectly, a special natural glue is used to set them securely.

The surface is further rubbed with sandstone and polished with fine sandpaper to bring out the natural shine of both the marble and the gemstones. A thin layer of wax completes the glass-like finish.
